BROOKS, AB (March 26, 2018) – The Brooks Bandits and Okotoks Oilers will meet in the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s South Final for the second consecutive year, with tickets on sale today for Games 3 and 4 in Brooks.
The series will begin in Okotoks on Friday, March 30th and Saturday March 31st by virtue of the Oilers’ finishing first overall in the AJHL this season, assuring them home ice advantage throughout the playoffs. The Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks will play host to Games 3 and 4 on Monday, April 2nd and Tuesday, April 3rd.
If necessary, a fifth game would be in Okotoks on Friday, April 6th, a sixth would be in Brooks on Sunday, April 8th, and a seventh and final deciding game would be on Tuesday, April 10th in Okotoks.
Game time for all games of the series is 7:00 PM.
It will be the sixth time in franchise history that the Bandits and Oilers have met in the post-season, with Brooks having won four of the five meetings so far, including a five-game victory in the South Final last year. The Oilers’ lone win was a six-game elimination of the Bandits in the second round in 2007.
The regular season series between the two teams was a lopsided one, with Okotoks winning all six meetings, and Brooks only registering a single point in an overtime loss on Sunday, October 15th.
The Oilers reached the South Final by virtue of a four-game sweep of the Camrose Kodiaks in the South Semifinal, following up their first round bye. The Bandits swept the Canmore Eagles in three straight games before needing six games to defeat the Drumheller Dragons in the second round.
All games will also be carried live on the radio home of the Brooks Bandits, Real Country 105.7, with pre-game coverage starting at 6:30 PM for games in Okotoks, and 6:45 PM for games in Brooks.
