Schedule released, tickets on sale for Bandits-Wolverines AJHL Final

BROOKS, AB (April 10, 2017) – The Brooks Bandits will take on the Whitecourt Wolverines in the 2017 AJHL Gas Drive Cup Final, beginning Friday, April 14th in Brooks, it was announced today.

Games 1 and 2 of the series will be at the Centennial Regional Arena on the 14th and Saturday, April 15th, with Games 3 and 4 in Whitecourt on Monday, April 17th and Tuesday, April 18th.

If necessary, Game 5 would be in Brooks on Friday, April 21st, Game 6 in Whitecourt on Sunday, April 23rd, and Game 7 in Brooks on Tuesday, April 25th.

Game time for all games in Brooks is 7:00 PM, with all games at the Scott Safety Centre in Whitecourt beginning at 7:30 PM.

It will be the first-ever AJHL Final for the Wolverines, while the Bandits are appearing in their fifth league final in the last six seasons, having won the 2012, 2013, and 2016 editions of the series.

Brooks advanced to the final after a 5-game win over the Okotoks Oilers in the AJHL South Division Final, capped off with a  dramatic overtime game-winner by Josh McKechney in Game 5 in front of more than 2,000 fans in Brooks, while the Wolverines captured their first-ever AJHL North Division championship after defeating the top-seeded Fort McMurray Oil Barons in six games.

Both regular season games between the two teams were early on in the campaign, with Brooks defeating Whitecourt at the CRA 5-2 on Friday, September 23rd, and winning in Whitecourt 4-1 on Saturday, November 19th.
