TJ Hughes named Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month (April)

BROOKS, AB (May 6, 2021) – Brooks Bandits forward TJ Hughes has been named the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month for April, the league announced on Thursday.

The 19-year-old forward led all AJHL players in scoring in April with 14 points in 8 games.

He recorded three multi-point games, including two 4-point nights and was selected as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game twice throughout the month, an honour he has received four times in the 2020-21 season.

Hughes (Hamilton, ON) leads the Bandits in scoring with 28 points (14G, 14A) and led all AJHL players in April with 14 points (6G, 8A) in 8 games.   Hughes is averaging 1.6 points per game and is second overall in AJHL Scoring.

TJ received the Inter Pipeline AJHL Player of the Week award for the week of April 26th – May 2nd after scoring 5 goals and 8 points in three wins over that time period.

He was also awarded the Brooks Industrial Metals Bandits Player of the Month for April.

Hughes is in his second AJHL season with the Bandits and has committed to Robert Morris University of the NCAA Division I.

The Bandits host the Spruce Grove Saints this weekend, with games on Friday (7:00 pm), Saturday (7:00 pm) and Sunday (4:00 pm).

Spectators are not allowed at AJHL games due to provincial restrictions, but the games can be heard on Real Country 105.7 FM and Hockeytv.com.
