BROOKS, AB (July 22, 2016) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are excited to announce the commitment of 1997-born forward Tyler Levine (Laguna Beach, CA) for the 2016-17 AJHL season.
Levine, 18, joins the Bandits after spending the past two seasons at Phillips Academy Andover in Andover, MA, competing in the New England Prep School Ice Hockey Association.
“Tyler is a strong two-way forward who has an ability to score,” said Bandits head coach and general manager Ryan Papaioannou. “His work ethic stands out to us on the ice and in the gym.
“I see him coming to us in a very similar situation to Jared Cockrell, and we are expecting that he can take the same development path,” he added, referring to the two-year Bandit veteran and incoming Colgate freshman. “He will have an opportunity to help carry the offensive load very early this season.”
The 5’10”, 175lb forward scored 63 points (24 goals, 39 assists) in 50 games over his two seasons at Phillips Andover, and prior to that played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League (T1EHL).
“I look forward to joining the Bandits, a class organization led by Coach Papaioannou,” said Levine. “I know I will continue to develop greatly as a player while contributing to the continuing tradition of winning in Brooks.”
