VIDEO: Bandits down Drumheller 6-1 in final home preseason game

BROOKS, AB (September 4, 2019) ? Devin Phillips (Raleigh, NC) shone with three assists, while Ethan Barwick (St. Albert, AB) made 13 saves on 14 shots, as the Brooks Bandits defeated the Drumheller Dragons 6-1 on Wednesday night in their final preseason home game of 2019.

The Bandits will next head to Okotoks on Saturday night to finish off their exhibition schedule.

Brooks opened the scoring in the first on Phillips? first setup of the night on a 4-on-4 sequence, as the North Carolinian spun a puck from the right half-wall to a waiting Corson Ceulemans (Beaumont, AB) in the slot, who flipped a quick backhand shot past goalie Ryley Osland.

In the second, Phillips picked up a loose puck at the end wall, cut to the left corner, and fired a pass in front to a sneaking in Tim Rego (Mansfield, MA), who roofed a wrister to make it 2-0.

Ceulemans helped to make it 3-0 next, when his low shot on a 4-on-2 rush bounced off Osland?s pad, straight to Reilly Connors (Madison, CT) who jammed the rebound over Osland?s glove and in.

But Drumheller got on the board late in the period on a Kaden Hanas goal from the left circle, cutting the deficit to two as the teams entered the third period.

Brooks dominated the final frame, though, tallying three more times. First, a Sean Chisholm (Halifax, NS) shot from the right half-wall bounced off two Drumheller defenders and into the net. Then, with Brooks on a power play, Greg Japchen (Doylestown, PA) fired a low wrister in from the right circle to extend the lead to 5-1. Not long after, Ceulemans fired a point shot from the right side that deflected off Mason Reeves (Waterdown, ON) and in to notch the 6-1 final score.

The Bandits outshot the Dragons 45-14 in the game.
