VIDEO: Bandits down Oilers 6-2 in second preseason match

BROOKS, AB (August 27, 2019) ? Bobby Harrison (Waterdown, ON) scored twice, and Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) made 27 saves, as the Brooks Bandits continued their undefeated start to the preseason with a 6-2 win at home over the Okotoks Oilers on Tuesday night.

The game followed up a 5-4 shootout win over the same visiting Okotoks squad the night prior.

Devin Phillips (Raleigh, NC) opened the scoring in the first when his shot from the high slot ricocheted off an Oiler skate and past starting goalie Ashton Abel. Chris Pappas (Etobicoke, ON) then tipped in a Greg Japchen (Doylestown, PA) point shot to double the lead. Okotoks got on board with a Jaevon Buschlen rebound goal, before the Bandits exploded for three goals in the middle frame.

First, Harrison scored from the right side on a rebound of a Phip Waugh (McLean, VA) shot to make it 3-1. Then, Randy Hernandez (Miami, FL) skated a circle around the Okotoks zone and fired from the high slot, beating Abel through another screen for a 4-1 lead. Finally, Harrison scored from the left circle on a wrist shot to give the Bandits a four-goal advantage.

TJ Koufis scored on a breakaway for Okotoks in the third to cut the deficit to 5-2, but it was as close as Okotoks would get, as Jake Lee (Owen Sound, ON) tipped in a puck at the top of the crease on a Corson Ceulemans (Beaumont, AB) setup from the right corner to finish off the scoring.

The Bandits will next travel to Penticton, B.C. to take on the Vees on Friday night. Puck drop is at 8 PM mountain time with broadcast coverage on RealCountry1057.com and HockeyTV.
