VIDEO: Lee scores three, Bandits beat Eagles 7-1, go 11-0

BROOKS, AB (October 12, 2019) ? The Brooks Bandits (11-0) got three goals from captain Jake Lee (Owen Sound, ON), en route to a dominant 7-1 home win over the Canmore Eagles on Saturday night at the Centennial Regional Arena, continuing their season-opening winning streak.

Brooks allowed the opening goal but scored seven consecutively afterwards, outshooting the Eagles 45-20 in the game.

Canmore?s opening goal came 4:52 into the game when a right circle shot by Max Giangualano was tipped in by captain Tian Rask at the net front. That Eagle lead would last only 44 seconds, however, as Randy Hernandez (Miami, FL) scooped up a puck in the slot and fired between a defender?s legs and past goalie Devin Chapman to tie it at 5:37. At the 7:41 mark, Phip Waugh (McLean, VA) sped in down the right wing and fired in a top-right corner shot for his first Junior A goal and a 2-1 Brooks lead.

In the second, Lee scored his first of the game just 2:16 in on a 2-on-1 setup from Hernandez, with the captain backhanding a shot home. Not long after, a pane of glass was broken by an errant stick, delaying the game for repairs.

When the teams returned, Brooks kept the pressure on, with Brayden Krieger (Elora, ON) scoring at the 11:26 mark to make it 4-1, Lee dug a loose puck free in the slot and sniped a top-shelf shot at 14:21, and then he completed his hat trick at 17:54 when his shot on an odd man rush rang the crossbar, then the end glass, then bounced off Chapman?s back, to Lee at the side of the net for a sharp angle shot and a 6-1 Brooks lead.

The Bandits extended the lead at 15:43 of the third period when Chapman turned the puck over to James McIsaac (Winnipeg, MB), who centered to Trey Thomas (Williams Lake, BC) for a quick one-timer goal.

Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) made 19 saves on 20 shots to extend his record to 8-0. The Bandits went 0 for 5 on the power play and a perfect 4 for 4 on the penalty kill. They?ll next host the Lloydminster Bobcats on Thanksgiving Monday afternoon at 4 PM, with all fans under 18 admitted for free and a free Skate with the Bandits after the game.
