CALGARY, AB (October 11, 2019) ? The Brooks Bandits (10-0) got a three-goal performance from forward James McIsaac (Winnipeg, MB), outshooting their opposition 57-17 in a 10-1 road win over the Calgary Canucks on Friday night.
Randy Hernandez (Miami, FL) scored five points on the night, while Ethan Barwick (St. Albert, AB) stopped 16 of 17 shots for his third consecutive win.
Corson Ceulemans (Beaumont, AB) scored from the slot just 1:36 into the game, and McIsaac tallied his first just over two minutes later on a backdoor feed off the rush from Trey Thomas (Williams Lake, BC). With the Bandits on a penalty kill late in the frame, McIsaac sprung Thomas on a 2-on-1, with the Bandit forward firing a pass across for another backdoor finish by McIsaac for the team?s first shorthanded goal of the season and a 3-0 lead after the first.
In the second, Hernandez set up Brayden Krieger (Elora, ON) for a net front one-timer goal for his team-leading seventh of the season at 1:42. Captain Jake Lee (Owen Sound, ON) scored when his centering pass from the end wall deflected off goalie Jay Thomson and into the net to make it 5-0 just 4:52 into the middle frame. A Connor Bertamini point shot was deflected in by Carter Anderson at 7:23 to get Calgary on the board, but the Bandits responded with Lee?s second of the period on a top shelf one-timer from the slot at 12:07 on the power play, again set up by Krieger and Hernandez.
In the third, TJ Hughes (Hamilton, ON) scored on a wrister from the left circle set up by Reilly Connors (Madison, CT) at the 5:01 mark. Just over 90 seconds later, McIsaac completed his hat trick on a left circle one timer on the power play set up by Chris Pappas (Toronto, ON).
Hernandez scored on a power play wrister from the left circle at 8:24 to make it 9-1, and the scoring was finished off at 16:04 when Hernandez sped in on a breakaway to the left side of the net, delayed, and fired a pass across for Tim Rego (Mansfield, MA) to deflect in to make it 10-1.
The Bandits went 3 for 8 on their power play and a perfect 4 for 4 on the penalty kill. They return home Saturday night hosting the Canmore Eagles at 7 PM, with tickets available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
