BROOKS, AB (June 19, 2015) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are pleased to announce the signing of 1995-born forward Logan Aasman (Medicine Hat, AB).
Aasman, 20, comes to the Bandits after spending the last three seasons with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 143 career WHL regular season and playoff games over that span, Aasman scored 34 points (9 goals, 25 assists) and added 81 penalty minutes.
“I am excited to add Logan to our mix of forwards,” said Bandits head coach and general manager Ryan Papaioannou. “He is another big body that will be able to create space for his teammates while also having the ability to contribute offensively.”
“Logan is very well-liked by his former teammates and has leadership qualities that will make him an integral part of our lineup,” he added.
The 6’4”, 210lb right-shooting winger graduated from the Southeast Athletic Club Tigers Midget AAA program, where he scored 18 points (12 goals, 6 assists) in 21 games with 32 penalty minutes in his final year of minor hockey before joining Everett mid-campaign.
The year prior, in his last full year of minor hockey, Aasman scored 32 points (18 goals, 14 assists) in 34 games with 24 penalty minutes for the then-Medicine Hat Tigers Midget AAA team, leading that team in scoring.
“I thought Brooks was my best choice because of its winning atmosphere, and because the Bandits always seem to be at the top of the standings,” said Aasman. “It’s such a well known Junior A team because of the success they have had, and I want to be a part of that.”
“I look forward to bringing my size and scoring ability and hopefully getting back to the AJHL final,” he added.
