Bandits Press Release â?? Wong added as Goaltending Coach

Brooks, Alberta, July 24, 2014 â?? The Brooks Bandits are pleased to announce the addition of Matt Wong (Medicine Hat, AB) in the position of Goaltending Coach.   Wong is no stranger to the AJHL after spending the last two seasons working for the Drumheller Dragons in the same role.   He also enjoyed success in the league as a goaltender with the Olds Grizzlys from 2005-2007.   Wong was twice named to the AJHL Top Prospects Team along with being named to the All Rookie Team.   After the AJHL he enjoyed two successful seasons in the BCHL with Victoria and Alberni Valley.   Matt now owns and operates King of the Crease Goaltending and has worked with the South East Athletic Club since 2009.

Head Coach/GM Ryan Papaioannou â?? â??We are excited to add Matt to our staff as he is a young coach with a bright future.   I have witnessed his interaction with goaltenders and the one thing that stands out is his ability to build relationships.   Matt will give our goaltenders an opportunity to work on their game on a more regular basis along while being supported on the mental aspect of the position.   Matt has worked with our starting goalie Michael Fredrick in the past and the two are happy with this opportunity.â?

Matt Wong –   “â??I feel extremely fortunate, and I am very excited to be a part of this great organization.   I plan on brining a new level of expectation and excellence to the Bandits goaltenders, and I am looking forward to working with Ryan, Brent and Scott to bring another championship back to Brooks.”
